Blog: Next New

Image
New media is quickly changing thing. It always replace the old and come up with the new. I would like to offer a new "new media" device. Such that it will allow users to be present near each other even if they are far away. For example, if you are in New York and your friend is in Paris, you will press the button on the new device and you will be "transferred" to Paris. It will copy your projection and transfer it to any place you want. And your friend will see the projection of you walking near himself. Maybe it will be the device, that will replace our computers and phones. I found some pictures to show how it should work.

Blog: Wiki So Far

To contribute to our class wiki I did a research on topics I was interested in. Then I checked if our wiki had it already or not. After reading through different sources, I took the most important information about products and wrote a short summary. Then I edited out wiki and added pictures, text and footnotes in the topics about my products.      For example, I created a short passage about Hourglass Cosmetics in Fashion Page. I added a logo of the firm and sited the source of information. I wrote about how Hourglass uses social media to target the sales. Also, I created few sentences about functions of Iphone X in the Photography Page. Also, I added the meaning of the word "title" in the New Media in Real Estate Page. I did a research on UberEats to update the statistic information of 2019 year in the New Media in Food, Beverage & Hospitality Industry Page. I added valuable people who have a great influence in the new media in Entrepreneurship Page. Also, I saw t

Computer networks allow you to share information with friends, family, co-workers and customers. Network file sharing is the process of copying data files from one computer to another using a live network connection.  Before the Internet and online networks became popular, data files were often shared using cd and dvd disks or usb sticks. Nowadays, networks give you more flexible options.       File sharing by itself is not necessarily piracy. You are permitted to make a copy of most things for personal use. Access it from multiple devices, you could even say you can legally share something within your physical household and not have to worry about piracy.  However, i n general, file sharing is actually an individual giving away something that they had no hand in creating "for free". This is called P2P File sharing.  In peer-to-peer sharing, you use a software program instead of your web browser to locate computers that have the file you want and then download it. P2P F

Blog: Privacy

New media affects the society in the negative way. There is a huge problem with security, hacking and fraud.  Nowadays security agencies have access to people's personal accounts. Which makes the privacy almost compromised.  Personal data and privacy can easily be hacked and shared through the Internet.  Automatic face recognition can lead to the theft of personality, because it shares your private information to a large amount of users. Social media network should limit the function of face recognition to some extent or use it only in special cases, not on daily basis. Social networks must pay attention to how they use photos and bio-metric data because there is nothing more personal or susceptible to identification than a person’s face and private information. Nowadays a lot of security agencies have an access to people personal accounts, which makes the privacy very suspicious. Social media often store, share and copy all the personal information you enter without y

Blog: Advice

There are few ways in which new media can be used to improve Baruch College: We can put the large screens on each floor of college. So that every student will be able to search the number of the classroom he have. We can add screens with adds in the elevators. The advertisements will include: MBA programs, athletic teams, hand made classes, training and so on. We can create a website to book computers in the library or seats in the dinning area.  We can a blog, where everyone will find their classmates and unite with them in groups.

Creativity and New Media

Build the city of your dreams. Cities: Skylines is the most realistic and detailed city builder ever created. Build a bustling metropolis and lead your city in whatever way you see fit. Using your imagination you can create the city of your dream. Build the city of your dreams, and keep it afloat by taxing your people. Balance essential requirements such as economy and healthcare. Create busy city districts and quite suburbs. You decide the laws of your city. Want to ban pets? Sure. Want to decide how the education system works? By all means, go ahead. You decide whether or not you want a giant industrial city, or a quaint seaside town. you decide how you want your people to live.  I tried to build several cities and only on my fourth attempt I created the city of my dream. There are modern districts as well as farms. It doesn't have traffic problems, everyone is happy: from children to adults and I accumulated enough money. Please see attached pictures of my city.

Creativity

Social Media has revolutionized the way we consume news, communicate with friends, and interact with brands. Social media has become a part of our daily life.  Social networks have become accessible by almost all out digital devices including computers, mobile phones, tablet devices, and wearable technology such as Google glasses and the Apple watch.       Technologies are fast changing, so we should always be one step in front of them. That's why new media fosters creativity. When you make videos on YouTube or write in your blog, you want to see changes from year to year. You make the best you can to "grow" and become better in new media. As I read in the paper  YouTube Traffic Characterization: A View From the Edge : " With the rise of Web 2.0 technologies on the Web, there is a need to understand their workload patterns, in order to plan, design, and build more efficient delivery infrastructures".     Also, media helps you to explore new ideas and in

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Virtual Reality makes it possible to experience anything, anywhere, anytime. It can convince the human brain that it is somewhere it is really not.Virtual reality isn't just for gaming - it's a technology that can make a real difference to our collective futures. Virtual Worlds have a great importance for training and education in fields like medicine, engineering, and the sciences. Medicine is one of the biggest beneficiaries with the development of surgery simulation. This is often used as a training aid and enables the surgeon to perform an operation on a virtual patient. It's better and safer for surgeons in training to perfect their techniques on things other than real humans. The article Avatar II: The Hospital tells us that online simulations are teaching nurses to make the right and quick decisions in emergencies. Another popular use of virtual reality is aviation: a three dimensional aircraft can be designed which allows the designer to test their prototype with

Blog about Twitter

A Tweeter discussion is similar to a BlackBoard Discussion. Discussion boards are used to create a “thread” or “topic” where participants in the board can post replies or start threads on new topics. You use text to state your point of view and to share your thoughts with classmates. When students participate in an online discussion forum they are not talking to a person with a face but rather a screen, in some cases typing words on a keyboard beneath or next to words that someone else has typed. It is a fast and convenient way to communicate with each other. It guarantees that all students are able to participate. This makes the discussion more democratic. You can share your opinion with confidence and everyone will see it.       In-class discussion is different. In addition to directing the message, you have a visual experience: sound of voice (volume, sonority, roughness, inflection), posture, dress, inflection, tempo, feeling, style. Online you are looking at a screen (phone,

Blog: Social networking sites

I believe that social media shall be to find new people or people with whom you have lost connection with and social media is not to be a substitute of one to one talking with people whom you know and can easily meet. It shall rather be for finding great personalities that we can’t meet or find new people. Facebook Facebook is the biggest social media site around, with more than two billion people using it every month. It is available in 140 languages. Facebook allows you to post on wall, create Fan Pages, Groups, etc. It include more features like Chat, Likes, Photos, Videos, Text, Polls, Links, Status, Pokes, Gifts, Games, Messaging, Classified section, upload and download options for photos. In Facebook you can write as much as you want.  Twitter Twitter is a social media site for news, entertainment, sports, politics, and more. What makes Twitter different from most other social media sites is that it has a strong emphasis on real-time information — things tha

Blog Social networking

Social media technologies have changed the lives of many people. Just look at Facebook or Twitter popularity and you will realize that the social networking connects  human consciousness.  You can share ideas and knowledge in words, images and with the virtual face to face technologies.  Knowledge transfer is so quick. It is transforming humanity deeply at the personal and business levels.      Social networks can add value to almost any business. C onsumer goods companies could increase their margins using social technologies through goods that better meet customers needs and improve the productivity of knowledge workers. As I read in the article by Miller: " Twitter is also a tool for businesses to reach customers and monitor what their customers are saying about them".   With nearly half of the world’s population using social media platforms, they’re a natural place to reach new and highly targeted potential customers.     Blog Social networks have become hubs that

Blog v Wiki

Blogs and wikis are very useful in our life, because they allow you to teach and learn context, support dialogue between people, provide a space for collaboration and chronicling your and others reflections.        Blogging is about sharing of useful information in different ways. These can be articles, videos, images and infographics. It’s possible to mix the content and in a lot of cases the content you are sharing on a blog is time-sensitive (yet, we doesn’t exclude the possibility of evergreen content. Technically Wiki uses a special markup and structure allowing add new content, edit i

Social Media: Better or Worse than the Real Thing

Young people tend to spend more time on social media than on the real life. In my project " Social Media: Better or Worse  than  the  Real Thing"  I am going to discuss the positive and negative  aspects of how social media influenced our lives,  changed  the ways we communicate, entertain and express ourselves and shaped people's perception of ourselves. In my  paper  I will  combine my personal experience with the scholarly research to analyse the topic deeper.
